Forrester Consulting conducted an independent study, commissioned by BitPay, using their proven Total Economic Impact™️ (TEI) methodology to quantify the business impact of adding BitPay as a payment option for accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

The study based on four interviews with BitPay merchants analyzed the risk-adjusted benefits over a three-year period with ecommerce revenues between $100 million and $1.2 billion, found that a composite organization accepting cryptocurrencies:

  • Attracts New Customers - The expected rate of 1st time customers is up to 40% and generates $483K in new sales.

  • More Than Doubles Average Order Values - The average AOV for purchases made with cryptocurrencies is greater than 2 times resulting in an additional $849K in revenue.

  • Lowers Payment Fees - When compared to the average processing fees assumed by the merchant, BitPay saves 1.25% resulting in $363K in savings.

  • Nearly Eliminates Chargeback Costs - Chargebacks account for about a 1% loss of all sales, but since BitPay eliminates chargeback-risk, there’s also a $72K savings.
